Do I need a consultation before BOTOX or fillers?

Yes. Every injectable treatment at KMHCS begins with a consultation so Dr. Motlagh can review your goals, health history, and facial anatomy before discussing an appropriate treatment plan. Consultations are also an opportunity to ask questions and see before-and-after examples.

What should I expect at my first consultation at KMHCS?

Your first consultation includes a review of your health history, treatment goals, and the area you'd like addressed. For aesthetic visits, Dr. Motlagh assesses your skin or facial anatomy and explains which options are appropriate for your concerns. Most consultations take 15 to 30 minutes. You will receive a recommended treatment plan before committing to any procedure.

What is the difference between BOTOX and dermal fillers?

BOTOX — and similar neurotoxins like Dysport and Xeomin — relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles caused by expressions like squinting or frowning. Dermal fillers restore lost volume and structure to areas like the lips, cheeks, jawline, and under-eyes. Many patients benefit from a combination of both depending on their goals. Dr. Motlagh can help determine which option is best suited for your face during consultation.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

The right treatment depends on your goal. BOTOX and neurotoxins reduce expression lines — forehead wrinkles, "11s," and crow's feet. Dermal fillers restore volume to lips, cheeks, jawline, or under-eyes. Laser treatments address skin tone, texture, acne scars, unwanted hair, or spider veins. Body contouring targets stubborn fat or loose skin. Medical weight loss programs support long-term health goals. During your consultation, Dr. Motlagh evaluates your skin, health history, and preferences to build a plan tailored specifically to you.

How long do BOTOX results usually last?

BOTOX results often last about 3 to 4 months, but duration varies based on the treatment area, dose, muscle activity, and individual metabolism. Maintenance timing should be discussed with your provider.

How soon will I see results from BOTOX or fillers?

BOTOX typically begins working within 3 to 7 days, with full results visible by day 14. Dermal fillers may show early volume change after injection, though swelling is common at first and the final appearance often settles over 1 to 2 weeks. Results timing can vary by treatment area and individual response.

Is there downtime after fillers or BOTOX?

Downtime is minimal for most patients. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites for a day or two, but most people return to normal activities the same day. More intensive treatments such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels may involve a few days of social downtime. Your care team will review what to expect before your treatment.

What should I avoid after BOTOX or filler treatment?

After BOTOX: avoid lying flat for 4 hours, rubbing the treated area, or vigorous exercise on the day of treatment. After fillers: avoid extreme heat (saunas, intense sun), alcohol, and strenuous activity for 24 to 48 hours. Your care team will provide written aftercare instructions before you leave the clinic.
